BIOSKETCH Dr Sonwabile Gonya is the Head of the Neurosurgery Clinical Unit at Greys Hospital in Pietermaritzburg where he was instrumental in its development since 2020. His interests are in the spine tumours, degenerative disease of the spine, trauma to the spine and traumatic brain injuries. He is an examiner at the College of Neurosurgeons of South Africa and enjoys teaching registrars about the pathology of the spine, as well as fifth-year medical students when they attend their neurosurgery rotation in Pietermaritzburg.
