The Discipline of Neurosurgery is currently based at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital which is a Tertiary and Quaternary Hospital located in Durban, South Africa. It provides neurosurgery services for the entire province of KwaZulu-Natal, including referrals from the Eastern Cape Province. The services include investigations, diagnosis and treatment of all conditions affecting the brain and spinal cord in both children and adults. The Discipline of Neurosurgery provides a busy clinical service and an active academic program. The Discipline of Neurosurgery prides itself in its multidisciplinary approach, programs and collaborations such as the Cranio-facial unit, Neuro-oncology, Neuro-critical care, Spine, Endocrinology, Movement disorder unit, Neurophysiology unit all aimed improving patient care. The discipline of Neurosurgery is staffed by experienced Specialists who are actively involved in the training and supervision of Registrars and Medical officers.
